Sir John Corbet, of the Corbet family of Adderley Hall, Shropshire, is shown three-quarter length in what are traditionally believed to be the robes of the High Sheriff of Shropshire. The sitter was following family tradition when he held the post of Lord High Sheriff from 1676-77.
